Rick Warren interviewed Obama/McCain for the Christian community he serves (Note: the world is really his pastorate.) Anyway, this is worth watching. It has changed my views on the candidates.
Actually, it was just me because I went to my new eye doctor (whom I really like) and he dilated my eyes.
Funny thing is when I left I assured my eyecare provider that I had sunglasses in the car . Ooops! When I realized I had no protection for my ever dialated eyeballs I debated whether to walk back in and get glasses. However it just seemed so far from my car (parked around back) to the doctors office door (on the front of the building.) So, I figured I was good for the two miles home.
WRONG!!! I got a super duper headache that is still lingering (at least Crystal thinks so This gives me a voice in the “I feel like crap” conversation that we keep having because she is growing larger by the day. I haven’t been able to chime in with any queasiness until now.
Anyway, so I decided to go to Crystal’s doctor appointment (bpm at 160) and then take her out to eat at Pizza House in Powdersville (two thumbs down.)
It was just so bright that my glasses weren’t cutting it so I wore mine and hers . . .
Thankfully she agreed to drive me around as I sat in the back seat because the windows were tinted! I liked that.
Anyway, I sported my glasses at the doctor’s appointment and in the restaurant like I was the guy too cool to take off my glasses inside. But I didn’t care. Once home I went straight to bed for hours because sleep was the only thing that could shake my monster headache.
I write this only as a reminder to myself that next time the front door seems too far away it really is much better than the alternative
It started off with me and Obamasitting at my kitchen table eating vanilla ice cream and dill pickles (which he thoroughly enjoyed.) I asked some tough questions, just to ease your mind. He wanted to know my plans here in Pelzer
Then we walked out my back door and were at the “water cube” in Beijing for Phelps final swim of his career. We shook hands, waved to Michael who waved back & held his medals high that were around his neck! Then we went our seperate ways after exchanging our cell numbers.
Good because I . . .
*Watched the Olympic games opener which was unbelievable.
*Saturday our church hosted a pool outreach and gave away free food, music, bookbags with church info crammed inside , soccer balls, etc. AWESOME DAY!!!
*Sunday attendance finally felt like we were back from the Summer (several visitors & several returnees)
*Sunday we also had Matt Tegen come share about his call to Haiti. I like supporting Matt because I actually understand what he’s going to do when arrives.
*Zach Derr showed up yesterday back from summer vacation (Zach will be leading a team to reach and teach our children on Sunday mornings starting in a few weeks. He’s going to do awesome.)
*Sunday for lunch we had our monthly board meeting. Hands down the best board meeting we have had and definately the most honest conversation. (The conversation was fueled by visits most of the members were willing to make to two churches I asked them to go to: 1- a church plant 2- an old church that renovated its facility to get back into the game)
*Sunday PM Crystal and I went to downtown Greenville to check out Falls Park. Great place I had no clue was on Main!
Bad because I . . .
*spent Thursday -Saturday on the couch with the flu virus
