Crystal Gambrell clarified for me in an email what she had for the kids and what they still needed!
The current needs are . . .
clothes for Bryson (size 7)
clothes for Haley (size 6)
Thanks church for helping.
PS- if you came to church I’m sure you enjoyed the phrases . . .
“I pastor a church that throws birthday parties for prostitutes at 3:30am.”
“We’ve had a prositute, a homeless man who eventually committed suicide, several convicts, and a few drug addicts come to our church for short stints since I’ve been pastor.’ (THOUGHT NOT SAID: They come until they go back to jail, go back to the street, or die.)
Thank God we’re SLOWLY turning ourselves from a “country club for me” church to a church where mess is welcome if Jesus is allowed to help! That’s the kind of church I want to be a part of.
Only recieved one email saying it was inappropriate. Funny!!!
It’s been too long since I blogged. Sorry and I’m back!!!
Yesterday in church we talked about helping PERC (Piedmont Emergency Relief Center ) with bags of canned goods or a check. Hopefully you’ll do one or maybe both.
We also talked about a family that Crystal Gambrell knew about that is in need this Christmas. Her email this morning further explained that a grandfather named Charlie, has a daughter with addiction issues which hinder her from caring for her 4 children ages 3-9. The kids live with Charlie and his wife who reside in a small mobile home and heat it with the stove. Work is minimal for Charlie who roofs and his wife is unable to work because of diability. They currently receive little to no help. Our goal is to fund the children with toys and the family with nonperishable can goods, etc.
If your interested the children’s name, age, and sizes are: Landon – male- age 9- size 8
Bryson – male- age 7- size 7
Haley- female- age 6- size 6
Kylie- female- age 3- size 3
*Update: The kids would like board games, a football, barbie dolls, any kind of drawing accessory like crayons, construction paper, markers, and socks. We raised enough yesterday for jackets and shoes but they still need clothes I’m sure.
I hope you sense the need to push off your wants for the needs of others in the name of Jesus.
Drop checks in the offering plate clearly marked toward your gifts destination. Drop bags of cans at the church altar and toys to Crystal Gambrell, the church office, or myself.
After Thanksgiving I’m sure I’ll be revived. Until then I leave you with my current home. Go to Google Street View. (click street view and type in 16 Lebby Street Pelzer, SC)
Be careful you may be jealous that I live across from the most expensive grocery store in SC. Thank God I live down the street from the cheapest as well.
Sunday was great! Actually laid in a bed for part of my sermon. That was fun! Small groups I love!!! Really good attendance for this time of year with great energy!!!
Now I’m sitting here at 11:30pm in our friends house in Raleigh thinking about how blessed I am to have family that loves me, friends that really care, and after a few days I return “home” to a place that is really starting to feel like home!!!
I feel blessed today.
Since everyone is in bed and I am not tired I am going to watch hulu for the newest episode of House.
Yesterday I had a district meeting and I realized I can focus better if I am doing more than one thing at a time. Otherwise, I totally zone out.
Here is me in a meeting totally engaged in the conversation, cleaning out my email, charting a diagram of church activity/follow-up which is the group activity at the time, playing with my webcam, texting, and trying to download a new version of Photoshop!
Yesterday had tons of visitors (and if I could have picked a day for them yesterday was it).
Yesterday was one of the highest attended services outside of a holiday/special event.
Yesterday our tithe was very strong (probably had something to do with last week).
Yesterday the “cardboard testimonies” were overwhelming as they flooded the stage.
Yesterday I spent 2 hours with a lot of kids dropped off during LIFE Group (5 people from my group helped and we had just enough to cover the bases)
After yesterday’s service I had 7 emails, 3 voice mails, and 2 conversations telling me that God used our Sunday service in a mighty way. One person even said it was the best service they have ever been to.
I’m thanking God for yesterday. I try to look forward but every so often it is nice on Monday to have had a day like yesterday!!!
Two minutes after birth the nurse said “He looks just like his daddy!”
I’ve heard that alot and it never gets old.
I’ve got a 4 week old that’s mine!!! WOW!!!
I slept 6 hours last night and am pumped. First day in a month I don’t feel like a zombie. I’m hoping we figured out a schedule that works!!!
It was awesome. I was responsible from 8pm-1am(while she slept) and then Crystal took over(while I slept). So, we both got a few hours of uninterrupted sleep and allowed the other to rest without constantly waking up. I feel so much better:)
