I’ve heard it said that churches that decline and die often have a lifecycle of 30/30/30.
They grow for 30 years, plateau for 30 years, and decline for 30 years.
Then . . . they eventually shut down. Our church is well over 100 years old and is in step of deciding whether or not we want to go another 100.
We have started in a process with the denomination I serve in called ReFocus. It works on me for a year and makes me get really honest with who I am (and am not.) And then it works with the church and demands the same level of honesty.
We’re striving to regain focus. We’re chasing lazer focus and intensity with the same purpose that men built a place in Pelzer for the holiness crowd to worship over 100 years ago -> It’s all about Jesus!
I thought I would come, help them refocus, and then take off to something flashy. Crazy thing is, I think we have some great potential that makes me not want to do all this work and then leave.
Anyway, my friend Steve (aka Suit), wrote about the lady (aka Bosslady) that is taking us toward the light of being ReFocused.

I will be praying as you continue to refocus. I know how easy it is to be distracted.
